PALCARAJU (6274m)

Donde fue tomada: Desde el glaciar del Nevado Jatunmontepuncu (5500m), una montaña hacia el oeste del Nevado Pucaranra.

Where it was taken: From the glacier of Nevado Jatunmontepuncu (5500m), a mountain on the crest west of Nevado Pucaranra.

Como llegar: Un camino empinado y accidentado atraviesa la arista entre las Quebradas Cojup y Quilcayhuanca, cruzando en un punto al oeste del lugar de la foto. Se ve el Palcaraju desde casi toda la Quebrada Cojup (véase la p. 47). Se alcanza ambas quebradas a través de la carretera asfaltada al este de Huaraz hacia Unchus, Llupa, y Pitec.

How to get there: Today a rough, steep trail between the Quebradas Cojup and Quilcayhuanca (directly east of Huaraz) crosses this ridge at a point slightly to the west of the location of the photo. The valley floor of the Quebrada Cojup offers similar views of Nevado Palcaraju (see p. 47). The entrances to both valleys is reached via the narrow paved highway east of Huaraz toward Unchus, Llupa and Pitec.
