HUANTSAN (6395m)

Donde fue tomada: En el Km. 7 de la carretera afirmada por la Quebrada Huachecsa al oeste de Chavín de Huántar.

Where it was taken: Km. 7 of the road up the Quebrada Huachecsa from Chavín de Huántar.

Como llegar: Se llega a Chavín de Huántar en el Callejón de Conchucos (vertiente oriental de la Cordillera) a través de la carretera asfaltada (via el túnel Cahuish) desde Catac (116 km. a Chavín). Desde 1 km. al sur de Chavín una carretera estrecha asciende hace el oeste por la banda sur de la Quebrada Huachecsa. Hay vistas impresionantes del Huantsán desde el Km. 7.

How to get there: Chavín de Huántar is reached via a well-maintained paved highway over and through (via the Cahuish tunnel) ´the Cordillera Blanca to the east side of the range. From just south of Chavín a narrow and at times precipitous unpaved road climbs up the south side of the Quebrada Huachecsa, high above the river. There are excellent views of Huantsán starting about 7 km. above Chavín.
