ARTENSONRAJU (6025m)-QUEBRADA PARON

Donde fue tomada: Desde el camino al glaciar de Nevado Artesonraju al este de la Laguna Parón.

Where it was taken: On the trail to the Artesonraju glacier east of Laguna Parón.

Como llegar: Desde el límite norte de Caraz (67 km. al norte de Huaraz) una carretera afirmada asciende 31 km. a Laguna Parón. (Es más o menos pasable hasta el peaje comunal,, es muy accidentada en la subida dentro de la quebrada.) La reja del peaje cierra a las 4 p.m,, sin excepciónes. Un camino bordea la orilla norte de la laguna. Después un camino empinado asciende al glaciar del Artesonraju.

How to get there: From the north end of Caraz (67 km. north of Huaraz) an unpaved road climbs steeply 31 km. to Laguna Parón. (It is relatively smooth up to the local community’s toll gate, then is extremely rough from that point. The gate closes at 4 p.m., no exceptions.) A trail follows the north shore of the lake, then two km. past the lake a steep trail climbs to the Artesonraju glacier.
